Randy Shannon to interview for UCLA’s DC job

On Saturday, UCLA hired their new offensive coordinator. At the expense -- and probably for the betterment -- of their old one.

Sunday, they come an experienced step closer to getting a coordinator on the other side of the ball.

Both the Los Angeles Daily News and ESPNLosAngeles.com are reporting that former Miami Hurricanes head coach Randy Shannon will interview for the Bruins’ vacancy at defensive coordinator today. The Bruins have been sans a defensive coordinator since the middle of December when Chuck Bullough was fired.

Barring an unexpected development during the interview today, however, Shannon will not be the last person considered for the opening. The Daily News reports that Shannon is one of several unnamed candidates expected to interview for the job this week.

Shannon was fired as Miami’s head coach shortly after the Hurricanes concluded their 2010 season. Prior to that, Shannon was in charge of a ‘Canes defense that finished in the top ten in total defense five times during his six years as a DC.
