Montana’s apparently off Tate Forcier’s to-do list

Six days after his long-rumored departure came to fruition -- via Twitter -- there’s still no indication as to where Tate Forcier will continue his collegiate football career.

One school that’s been rumored to be a potential landing spot for the former Michigan quarterback, though, appears to have fallen off the radar.

A Montana athletic department official told the school’s student newspaper Monday that it’s “doubtful” Forcier will transfer to and play for the Div. 1-AA (FCS) Grizzlies. Instead, the unnamed official said, Forcier will likely transfer to a Div. 1-A (FBS) school.

The Forciers had visited the Montana campus late last year, fueling rumors that the Grizzlies would be a likely destination.

With that school apparently off the table, it’s unclear just where the QB will land. San Diego State has been tossed around as a possibility, although that could simply be a product of the fact that Forcier attended Scripps Ranch High School in San Diego.

Regardless of where Forcier ultimately ends up, if it’s at the 1-A level, he’ll be forced to sit out the 2011 season, but will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2012.
