Foot injury to sideline USC’s Prater for most of spring

Both literally and figuratively, Kyle Prater simply can’t anything but a bad break.

The wide receiver entered USC last year with equal amounts of hype and talent, but his freshman season was derailed by lower-leg injuries that ultimately led to a redshirt. Now, Prater has yet another injury to deal with.

The Trojans announced on their official website Friday night that Prater suffered a foot fracture during offseason workouts this week. As a result of the injury and the expected 6-8 week recovery period, Prater will be sidelined for most of spring practice but could return toward the end of the sessions.

Surgery may also be necessary to repair the break.

Rivals.com rated Prater as the No. 1 receiver in the 2010 recruiting class and the No. 3 overall player in the country.
