Fondling allegations in the rear-view, lineman signs with Ohio State

On National Signing Day Feb. 2, long-time verbal commitment Chris Carter was expected to sign his Letter of Intent and become a member of Ohio State’s 2011 recruiting class.

Instead, the Cleveland high school offensive lineman was dealing with accusations that he had fondled as many eight minor females as part of some bizarro JROTC uniform scheme he had allegedly concocted. However, because there was not enough evidence of sexual contact between Carter and the alleged victims, the matter was dropped by Cleveland police less than a week later.

And now, three weeks later than expected, Carter’s lifelong dream of becoming an Ohio State Buckeye has come to fruition. According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Carter signed his LOI Thursday, officially becoming the 24th member of the Buckeyes’ ‘11 class.

“We are excited Chris will be a Buckeye,” head coach Jim Tressel said. “He has a great support system at home as well as at his high school.”

Carter was rated as a three-star lineman by Rivals.com.
