NCAA vacates wins and takes away a scholarship from Arkansas... State

We have good and bad news for all two Arkansas State fans who read CFT (the rest of you can move on to “who’s worse” debate: Tressel or Auburn). The good news is that your team has finally made headlines. The bad news is that it’s because you violated NCAA bylaws.

According to an Associated Press article, the NCAA has vacated wins from Arkansas State’s 2005-06 seasons for using ineligible players who failed to to meet NCAA rules on progress-toward-degree requirements.

The school discovered the violations during an internal audit and reported them to the NCAA. ASU also offered to vacate 10 victories from 2005-06, and 27 from the basketball program, which was also included in the sanctions.

Additionally, the NCAA will take away -- count ‘em -- one whole scholarship away from Arkansas St.
