A couple of days ago, it was reported that Wisconsin’s 2011 opener against UNLV was likely moving to a primetime Thursday night slot on the schedule.
Today, that “likely” has become a “definitely”.
In a press release issued by the school, Wisconsin has confirmed that their non-conference tilt against UNLV will indeed be moving from Saturday, Sept. 3, to Thursday, Sept. 1.
It will be the Badgers’ first Thursday night home game since August of 2000.
“To be able to open up the college football season at home, in front of our tremendous fans at Camp Randall Stadium in a Thursday night game, something that has only been done here one other time, will be very special,” UW head coach Bret Bielema said in a statement. “It will be great national exposure for our program and a terrific way to kick off the 2011 season.”
Wisconsin opened the 2010 season with a 41-21 win on the road at UNLV. The Badgers lead the all-time series between the two schools 7-2.
