Ex-USC WR leaving door slightly ajar for return to Trojans

Two months after announcing he was leaving USC because he “didn’t get a fair chance”, Brice Butler has whittled his list of potential transfer destinations to two schools. And, at the same time, has left the door open to return to a very familiar place.

Butler, who is still attending classes at USC, told the media Wednesday that he has narrowed his choices down to Tennessee-Chattanooga and Delaware. He has visits scheduled to both schools, but did not rule out the possibility that he could yet again be a member of the Trojans football program.

“There could be a chance if something happens that I could stay,” Butler said. “You never know. I’m not closed off to those thoughts.”

Butler’s return, however, would seem to be a longshot at best as the receiver said it would be predicated on head coach Lane Kiffin asking him to stay. Kiffin told the Los Angeles Daily News through a spokesperson that he has not spoken to Butler.

And, if I were Butler, I would not hold a single breath awaiting Kiffin to get down on the proverbial bended knee and request his return.

In 2010, Butler caught just nine passes for 112 yards and a touchdown, leaving him very little leverage from a production standpoint and even less hope that someone from the program will “beg” for a return.
