Two injured Hurricanes expected to be back at practice this week

Some early morning injury news that, for once, doesn’t involve ACL tears and season-ending surgery.

At least one of two Miami players who injured themselves last week is expected to return to practice later this week. Wide receiver LaRon Byrd hurt his left knee during Miami’s Saturday scrimmage, but told the Miami Herald that he might be able to partially participate in drills toward the end of the week.

Byrd finished third in receptions and yards last season for the Hurricanes.

Additionally, safety Vaughn Telemaque suffered a scary neck injury last Thursday and had to be carted off the field and transferred to a hospital. However, Telemaque says he expects to be out of his neck brace by the end of this week.

“I was pretty scared,” Telemaque said. “It felt like a flashback of my freshman year (when he suffered a dead nerve injury). I’m just really excited it wasn’t as serious and I’ll be back.”
