Ex-UConn DE Portee reportedly headed to Georgia State

Just a day after reports surfaced that A.J. Portee had decided to leave UConn, the defensive end has reportedly found a new home.

And, as it turns out, it’s at the school where initial speculation had him headed.

According to SB Nation Atlanta, and citing insider sources, Portee has settled on transferring to Georgia State. As the Panthers, who are coached by former Georgia Tech/Alabama/Kentucky head coach Bill Curry, are a Div. 1-AA school, Portee would be eligible to play immediately.

An email sent to Allison George, GSU’s associate athletic director, seeking confirmation has yet to be answered.

Portee, who was a two-star member of the Huskies’ 2008 recruiting class out of Austell, Ga., played in 15 games the past two seasons.
