Former USC assistant McNair reportedly filing suit against NCAA?

There’s definitely a reason this story is check marked in the “rumor mill” category.

It’s been pretty mum so far, but word on the street is that former USC running backs coach Todd McNair is filing a lawsuit against the NCAA.

Conquest Chronicles has the initial story, although they cite USCFootball.com, a division or Rivals.com, as the source.

To be frank, I’m not sure how much validity there is to all this, but what the hell, it’s Sunday in June and I know there’s a faction of readers who would rather we stop talking about Ohio State for a second.

As you’ll recall, McNair was not retained after his June 30th contract ended last year. Of course, he was also a central figure in what was then the biggest NCAA investigation of the year.

He later appealed the NCAA’s findings that he knew of the illegal benefits running back Reggie Bush was receiving at the time. That appeal, like USC’s, was denied by the NCAA in late April.
