Pitt makes it official, adds ex-OSU signee

Well, that certainly take long.

Just a handful of days after receiving a release from his Ohio State scholarship, Ejuan Price has found a new football home.

In a press release, Pittsburgh announced that the linebacker has been added to the Panthers’ 2011 freshman recruiting class. He will be eligible to play for Pitt immediately.

“Ejuan Price is an outstanding addition to our freshman class,” first-year head coach Todd Graham said. “He comes from a tremendous football program in Woodland Hills. Ejuan is an explosive player who has great leadership abilities. He will fit in well with our defensive schemes and philosophies.”

As previously noted, Price, a three-star player out of Pittsburgh Woodland Hills, signed with the Buckeyes this past February, but began having doubts about the decision shortly after National Signing Day. Despite reports to the contrary, Price continues to insist that the controversy swirling around the OSU football program had nothing to do with his decision to request a release.

“It had nothing to do with the allegations,” he said. “I know what kind of people they are. Everybody makes mistakes, but that’s just not where my heart is. I don’t think that’s where I wanted to go in the first place. They’re still good people whether all of that stuff happened or not. Coach Tressel is still a good guy. They’re still all right with me.”

Price is the fourth Woodland Hills product to join the Panthers this year, joining defensive lineman Khaynin Mosley-Smith and freshmen defensive backs Lafayette Pitts and Jevonte Pitts.
