Ex-Canes LB joining ex-Hokie at Hampton

In late April, it was reported that linebacker Lyndell Gibson would be transferring to Hampton University a month after deciding to leave later.

Fast-forward nearly three months, and Gibson will have some familiar ACC linebacking company at his new school.

According to the Virginian-Pilot, Travis Williams has decided to move to Hampton as well and will play for the Div. 1-AA school in 2011. Like Gibson, Williams will man one of the linebacking spots for the Pirates.

Williams opted to transfer from Miami in early May after being one of myriad Hurricanes rumored as being on the receiving end of a suspension to open the 2011 season.

After signing with the ‘Canes as a three-star member of their 2010 recruiting class, Williams sat out the entire season due to a knee injury. He exited spring practice this year as No. 2 on The U’s depth chart.
