In 2010, Josh Gordon was far and away the Baylor Bears’ most explosive wide receiver, best evidenced by his school-record 94-yard touchdown reception against Kansas.
Whether or not Gordon gets the chance to build off last season, apparently, remains to be seen.
In a release issued by the school, Baylor announced that Gordon has been suspended indefinitely from the football program for violation of team rules. Head coach Art Briles was quoted in the release and, as expected, he shed absolutely no light on the situation that led to the suspension.
“Josh has been suspended from our program for team rules violations,” Briles said in his statement. “This disciplinary action, as all past and future actions, will be handled internally.”
While Gibson’s 42 receptions were good for fourth on the team, his 714 receiving yards were second on the Bears. Additionally, and more importantly, his yards per reception (17.0) was far and away tops on the Bears, while his seven touchdown receptions were tied for the team lead.
Additionally, and we’d be remiss without noting, Gordon was one of two Baylor football players in October 2010 who were found “sleeping” in the drive-thru lane at an on-campus Taco Bell at two o’clock in the morning. And, again, dudes were sleeping and/or passed out in the drive-thru lane of a Taco Bell.
