The deadline is here for current Nebraska quarterback Bubba Starling. The highly-touted signee and first round MLB draft pick by the Royals will have until midnight to decide whether to stick with the Huskers or pursue a professional baseball career initially worth at least $7.5 million.
Starling reported to Lincoln last month and has been working out with his teammates during the summer. But a text from Starling earlier to the Kansas City Star this month revealed the freshman was, like, seriously OMG stressing over whether he would stay. Since Aug. 6, Starling has not been listed on Nebraska’s 105-man roster, which was planned, but rumors that head coach Bo Pelini had verbally devoured Starling’s soul were not -- the latter of which caused some concern that Starling would sign with the Royals.
In either case, Starling needs to make his decision today, or he could face a three-year delay from playing professional baseball.
