Russell Wilson named co-captain for Wisconsin

During Big Ten Media Day, Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema did the coach thing and deflected all questions and/or assumptions surrounding ex-NC State quarterback Russell Wilson and his chance to immediately transfer into the starting signal caller for the Badgers.

But, uh, yeah. Wilson’s going to be the starter.

If that wasn’t already evident by the fact that Russell Wilson is, indeed, Russell Wilson -- a quarterback with nearly three years of starting experience under his belt -- it was evident by the fact that Wisconsin’s other quarterbacks, indeed, were not Russell Wilson.

And, if that wasn’t evidence enough, Wilson has since been named one of four co-captains for a team he’s only been a part of for just under two months.

Wilson is UW’s offensive co-captain along with fullback Bradie Ewing. Defensive lineman Patrick Butrym and defensive back Aaron Henry are the defensive co-captain elects.

So unless Bielema plans on pulling the table cloth out from underneath our feast of all things Wilson*, it would appear naming the senior as co-captain would erase all doubts of Wilson not being the starter when the Badgers line up against UNLV to start the season.

As if there were any doubts before.

(*note: it’s entirely possible Bielema is scheming to dash our dreams. He’s done it before. Tim Brewster knows what I’m talking about.)
