Helmet-less, pizza-carrying ‘Cocks QB knocked unconscious in moped wreck

To be honest, I never thought I’d ever have to string together those particular words in a headline, at least one that didn’t also involve the words “Stephen Garcia”, “nude” and “half-finished six-pack of PBR”.

Yet here we are as South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier announced No. 3 quarterback Andrew Clifford was injured in a moped accident over the weekend. As a result of the accident that left him with stitches in an unidentified part of his body, Clifford will be out of action for the next two to three weeks.

Here’s one television station’s description of the incident:

Clifford was found unconscious after falling off of his moped. Spurrier said the redshirt freshman was not wearing a helmet and was carrying a pizza at the time of the accident.

It should be mentioned that Clifford was named to the 2010 SEC Academic Honor Roll; feel free to insert some derivative of “there’s your SEC education at work!” at your own leisure.

Clifford has been listed behind the presumptive starter Garcia and No. 2 Connor Shaw on the Gamecocks’ depth chart.
