BC loses leading receiver to season-ending injury

Unfortunately, the huge statistical game wide receiver Ifeanyi Momah produced in Boston College’s will be his only on-field action in 2011.

The Eagles announced Monday afternoon that Momah suffered an ACL injury in the loss to Northwestern and will miss the remainder of the 2011 season. There was no word on when the fifth-year senior will undergo surgery.

It’s believed Momah suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the loss.

Momah led all BC receivers with eight catches for 171 yards in Saturday’s game. He was third on the team last season with 19 receptions for 296 yards and three touchdown catches.

As he was a medical redshirt in 2009, the school will apply for a sixth season of eligibility on Momah’s behalf.

The injury to Momah is the latest blow to the offensive side of the ball. Leading rusher Montel Harris, on the verge of breaking the ACC record for career rushing yards, missed the opener after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his knee last month and is expected to miss at least the next game as well.
