Mizzou to be down a pair of defensive starters vs. Sun Devils

While Missouri was able to come away with a win in their opener, the victory did prove costly for the Tigers.

Starting defensive end Jacquies Smith and starting linebacker Will Ebner were both injured in the 17-6 win over Miami (OH), and each will miss at least this Friday’s game against Arizona State.

Smith suffered a dislocated left elbow, although Ebner’s high-ankle sprain could be the more serious of the two. In addition to this weekend’s game, Ebner could miss several more weeks as well.

Head coach Gary Pinkel seemed optimistic that Smith will return the following week after being sidelined for the ASU game.

Mizzou did receive some good news on the injury front, with starting cornerback Kip Edwards likely returning after missing the opener with a hamstring issue.
