Jacory Harris listed as Miami’s QB starter on new depth chart

On Tuesday, Miami head coach Al Golden said he would allow Stephen Morris (pictured) and Jacory Harris to compete for the quarterback job through Saturday’s practice before naming a starter for the Ohio State game the following week.

With the release of an updated depth chart Wednesday, it’s apparently the weekend already. Woohoo!!!

In somewhat of a surprising move if for nothing more than the timing, Harris was listed as the starter at quarterback on the Hurricanes’ depth chart released this afternoon. Morris, who started the opener, was listed as the No. 2 QB. The move comes two days after Morris was so-so in a loss to Maryland, throwing for nearly 200 yards but also tossing two costly interceptions.

Harris was one of five UM players suspended for the opener -- another was suspended for six games, two others for four -- by the NCAA for receiving impermissible benefits from notorious former UM booster Nevin Shapiro.

Golden has yet to speak on the depth chart, or if it even means Harris will sit atop it when the nationally-televised nighttime game with the Buckeyes rolls around. What it would mean if it came to fruition, however, is a shot at redemption for Harris after his four-pick performance in a loss to OSU in Columbus last year.
