Update: Sooners’ starting center out 6-8 weeks

While head coach Bob Stoops had no desire to speculate “until I know exactly what it is”, Oklahoma could be without an experienced member of their offensive line for a period of time.

Starting center Ben Habern suffered an injury to his arm during the No. 1 (for now) Sooners’ win Saturday night against Missouri. Stoops would only allow that it was “something with his forearm”.

One of Habern’s line mates said the loss of what he calls the team’s best lineman would certainly have an impact.

"[Habern is] our best lineman, definitely our best interior guy, so we collectively would have to step and all raise our game to make up for losing him,” said guard Gabe Ikard following the win.

Habern has started the past 17 games for the Sooners.

UPDATED 4:31 p.m. ET: Oklahoma announced that Habern has a broken radius bone in his right arm and will miss 6-8 weeks. Per the release, Stoops said it “may be possible to review Habern for guard duty in 4-6 weeks.”
