Washington LB okay after knee to the head

There was yet another scary moment during a college football game Saturday -- I’m noticing an unpleasant theme here -- that resulted in a player being carted off the field after a head injury.

In this instance, Washington linebacker John Timu took a knee to the helmet while tackling Cal running back Isi Sofele in the third quarter of what would eventually be a 31-23 win by the Huskies. Timu laid on the ground for several minutes writhing in pain before eventually being taken off the field in an ambulance.

A very scary sight, to be sure.

Timu was taken to a local hospital and kept overnight as a precaution, but thankfully, all X-rays have come back normal.

“He was moving all of his limbs on the field, but it was definitely precautionary with his neck,” said coach Steve Sarkisian. “Obviously, you have to take those things as seriously as you can.”
