EJ Manuel taking practice snaps again for Florida State

It’s coming up on two weeks since Florida State quarterback EJ Manuel suffered a sprain in his non-throwing shoulder during a loss to Oklahoma, and finally, the junior returned to taking snaps in practice today.

Manuel could not finish the game against the Sooners and sat out FSU’s Week 4 loss to Clemson. He had been previously listed as “day-to-day” during the week and was doubtful for the game against the Tigers.

“He took snaps, then handed off a little bit and did some of that,” FSU coach Jimbo Fisher said today via a university press release. “Then we got him back in and got some treatment. We just wanted to get him out, getting him live snaps, get his shoulder pads on, moving and throwing the ball in his pads. He felt really good.”

Backup quarterback Clint Trickett had been taking all the first team snaps. Fisher said he expects Manuel to be back with the No. 1’s in full capacity on Monday; FSU doesn’t play again until Oct. 8 against Wake Forest.
