Wazzu QB in ICU with a lacerated liver

In a relief effort Nov. 12, Washington State’s Connor Halliday threw for 494 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Arizona State. Making his first career start a week later, Halliday threw for 290 yards but also four picks in a loss to Utah.

It now appears, unfortunately, that the redshirt freshman’s next on-field football action will have to wait until spring practice.

Wazzu confirmed Sunday afternoon that Halliday suffered a lacerated liver in the loss to the Utes. The schools stated that Halliday absorbed several hard hits throughout the game and approached the medical staff afterwards notifying them that he was in significant pain. Specialists were brought in after he was taken to the hospital, where it was determined that his liver had been lacerated.

Halliday remains hospitalized in ICU, and will remain there indefinitely. He is listed in stable condition.

With both Halliday and former starter Jeff Tuel out with injuries, the starting duties in the Apple Cup against Washington will fall back to Marshall Lobbestael.
