Every year since 2004, the Lott Trophy honors the top defender who has the most “IMPACT” on his team on and off the field, with IMPACT standing for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
Last year’s winner was Wisconsin’s J.J. Watt.
Below are this year’s finalists:
LB Emmanuel Acho, Texas
LB Dont’a Hightower, Alabama
LB Luke Kuechly, Boston College
LB Manti Te’o, Notre Dame
“These are outstanding football players, who represent their universities with distinction and honor,” said Ronnie Lott in a statement. “They are terrific players who also excel off the field with their character, integrity and hard work in the classroom. I’m excited to meet them at our awards banquet.”
