Predictions 101 -- Little Caesars Pizza Bowl

Western Michigan vs. Purdue
Dec. 27, 4:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
At Detroit

Bronco senior Jordan White is the best wide receiver you’ve never heard of. He’s the only player in the nation to average double-digit receptions and leads that category by more than two catches per game. In addition, White is No. 1 in the nation with 1,646 receiving yards.

Some credit also has to go Western Michigan quarterback Alex Carder, who has thrown 28 touchdown passes, against only nine interceptions.

Purdue (6-6), which ranks eighth in the Big Ten in both passing defense and passing efficiency defense, will have all sorts of problems dealing with the Bronco aerial attack. The Boilermaker run defense is even worse, ranking 10th in the league and 91st in the nation.

This will be the fifth bowl appearance and first victory for the Broncos (7-5). The wrong team is favored.

Opening point spread: Purdue by 2 1/2

The pick: Western Michigan 29-27
