TCU’s third-leading receiver won’t go bowling

‘Tis the season for bowl suspensions, apparently, as TCU became the latest school to announce a member of its football program will be unavailable for its postseason game.

Head coach Gary Patterson confirmed Tuesday afternoon that wide receiver Antoine Hicks will not play in the (deep breath) San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl Wednesday due to unspecified violations of team rules.

Other than in not being related to academics -- Patterson said Hicks is on schedule to graduate in May -- the coach would not divulge what led to the suspension.

Hicks is currently third on the Horned Frogs in receptions with 33 and fourth in receiving yards with 347. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram writes that freshman David Porter will likely replace Hicks in the starting lineup.
