Wyoming grabs new DC from Wazzu

Following the departure of safeties coach Alex Grinch to Missouri, Wyoming has grabbed an assistant at Washington State to head the Cowboys’ defense.

The school announced today that Chris Tormey will be joining Dave Christensen’s staff on Wednesday as the program’s defensive coordinator and safeties coach. Tormey spent 2011 as the linebackers coach for Wazzu before coach Paul Wulff was fired.

Tormey has made his way around the western part of the college football landscape for the past few decades with multiple stops at Washington and Idaho, as well as stints at Nevada and Hawaii.

“We feel very fortunate to be able to add a coach of Chris’ (Tormey’s) experience to our staff,” said Christensen. “He has been both a head coach and a defensive coordinator during his career, and is recognized as a talented recruiter. We look forward to him joining our staff in January.”
