Utes lose assistant to DeRuyter’s Fresno State staff

A couple of days after gaining an interim bowl win for Texas A&M, Tim DeRuyter‘s coaching staff at his new job is beginning to take shape.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, DeRuyter has hired Utah assistant Dave Schramm as his offensive coordinator at Fresno State. Schramm was the Utes’ offensive coordinator/co-offensive coordinator in 2009 and 2010 before being bumped down to running backs coach in 2011 following the hiring of Norm Chow as coordinator.

The Tribune writes that "[p]erhaps more than coaching, Schramm’s departure hurts the Utes the most in recruiting”, particularly in California.

Schramm had been with the Utes since 2005.
