Chris Ault completes Nevada coaching staff

A couple of days after announcing a significant shakeup of his Nevada offensive coaching staff would be undertaken, Chris Ault has made a third and final hire on that side of the ball.

The Wolf Pack announced via a press release Thursday night that Larry Lewis has been hired as the program’s special teams coordinator and running backs coach. Lewis will replace Casey Moore, who it was announced earlier in the week would not be returning to the football team in 2012.

“Larry is a veteran coach who has great experience,” Ault said. “Part of his expertise is special teams and he also coached one of the top running backs in the Mountain West last season. We’re excited to have him on board and this completes the restructuring of my staff here. We’re locked and loaded and ready to go.”

Lewis spent the past three seasons at Colorado State, mainly as the special teams coordinator as well as one season (2011) as RBs coach. Prior to his time with the Rams, he spent eight years (1999-2006) as well as stints with Washington State (1989-98) and Weber State (1981-88).

“I am really excited to join a great coaching staff at Nevada,” Lewis said. “With the history and tradition of what they have done and the direction they are going, these are exciting times to be part of the Wolf Pack.”

Ault had previously announced the hiring of Nick Rolovich as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach and Arkansas State Darren Hiller as offensive line coach.
