Ex-UCLA assistant headed to UNLV

Caught up in the coaching purge at UCLA late last year, Tim Hundley has finally landed a new gig for 2012.

In a press release, UNLV announced that Hundley has been added to Bobby Hauck‘s coaching staff. The longtime collegiate assistant will be responsible for the Rebels’ linebackers.

“I’ve known Tim Hundley for many years and not only has he been a valued colleague of mine but he is also widely known and respected in this profession,” Hauck said in a statement. “He brings a wealth of experience to the defensive staff that will help us tremendously.”

Hundley will replace Robin Ross, who left UNLV after one season for a job at Wyoming.

Hundley had spent the past three seasons as the Bruins’ secondary coach. Prior to that, he had spent time on coaching staffs at, among others, SMU, Washington, Colorado and Oregon State.
