Randy Edsall’s son among those no longer on ‘Cuse roster

(Go ahead, the “not all in” joke is there for the taking)

It was well-documented that Syracuse had a strange 2011 offseason that included a rash of injuries and legal issues that affected, by our unscientific calculations, somewhere between one-third and half of the Orange’s roster.

This time around, Syracuse’s offseason attrition is more of the traditional type. The Syracuse Post-Standard reports that eight players will not participate in spring practice due to injuries, and five reserve players are no longer on the roster.

The latter includes quarterback Jonny Miller, running back Mario Tull, kicker Shane Raupers, tight end Nick Raven and quarterback Corey Edsall, the son of Maryland coach Randy Edsall (who was also a Cuse QB in his collegiate days).

All those gone were either walk-ons or sparingly-used players. Miller, a somewhat highly-touted QB in 2010, had legal issues. Of the five, Edsall’s name is obviously the most recognizable. He walked on with the Orange in 2011.
