Cyclones LB to miss spring recovering from surgery

When Iowa State starts up spring practice tomorrow, they’ll be without two of their better defenders from the 2011 season.

The school’s official athletic site noted in a pre-spring primer that linebacker Jake Knott (pictured) will, as expected, miss all of spring practice and cornerback Jeremy Reeves will be limited as the two recover from offseason surgeries.

Knott, named first-team All-Big 12 by the Associated Press and second-team All-Big 12 from the conference coaches, had surgery in January to fix a torn labrum in his left shoulder. The linebacker played with injuries through most of last season. In a loss to Baylor, Knott actually dislocated his shoulder twice, with a fellow teammate popping the shoulder into place on the field the second time.

Knott would go on to have 18 tackles in the game. He finished the season third on the team with 115 stops.

Reeves, ISU’s only returning starter at corner, had wrist surgery. Both are expected to be back by fall camp.
