Bobcats schedule home-and-homes vs. Kansas, Cincinnati

Somewhere, Peter King is smiling. Or knee-deep in his latest mock draft, one of the two.

Regardless, King’s Ohio Bobcats announced Thursday a pair of future home-and-home series against schools from two of the six “power” conferences. First up, Ohio will travel to Kansas on Sept. 10, 2016, and then the Jayhawks will make their first-ever trip to Athens on Sept. 16, 2017.

The meeting with KU will be just the second meeting on the gridiron between the two schools, with the first coming in Lawrence back in 1967.

Additionally, the Bobcats will travel to Cincinnati Sept. 22, 2018, with the Bearcats returning the favor Sept. 12, 2020. Those two Ohio schools have not faced each other since 1981.

“These are two excellent series for our fans and the strategic growth of our football program,” athletic director Jim Schaus said in a statement. “Playing these types of series has been a part of our long range scheduling plan. It is always exciting to bring two schools from the Big 12 Conference and the Big East Conference to Peden Stadium.”
