Bo Bikes Bama raises over $400k for tornado victims

Bo Jackson was already one of my favorite college players. Now he’s moved into the No. 1 spot by himself.

For those unaware, Jackson has been raising money for the victims of last year’s tornadoes that ripped through Alabama. The four-day, 300-mile bike ride, dubbed “Bo Bikes Bama”, ended on Saturday and the charity has raised roughly $410,000.

The goal is $1 million.

Among those to participate were Lance Armstrong, Ken Griffey Jr. and Scottie Pippen. Riders could join Jackson for $200 a day and Jackson’s five bikes will be auctioned off.

“We’ve had fun this week,” Jackson said “I’ve gotten to know people that I would have never gotten to know. And it’s things like when you’re driving down the road, even though these people have lost a lot, they’re out on their front porches. They’re out beside the streets and they’re waving. And they’re happy.”

Bravo, Bo. Bravo.
