On the verge of a move from Div. 1-AA (FCS) to Div. 1-A (FBS), UT-San Antonio has reportedly landed a player who spent the 2011 season at the big-boy level of football.
In a press release, UTSA announced that linebacker Robert Singletary has decided to transfer from Baylor to the Roadrunners. As a redshirt freshman last season, Singletary played in all 13 games, with all of his playing time coming on special teams.
“Robert is a talented player who brings valuable FBS experience into our program,” said former Miami Hurricanes and current UTSA head coach Larry Coker in a statement. “He will help us meet our needs at an important position as we move into Conference USA in 2013.”
After sitting out the 2012 season because of NCAA transfer bylaws, Singletary will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2013.
UTSA will be a member of the WAC for the 2012 season, their first at the top level of college football, and will then move to Conference USA the following season.
