Mike Slive tells AP he’s sticking around ‘at least a couple of more years’

Anyone anxious to get rid of SEC commissioner Mike Slive? If so, you’ll have to wait at least “a couple of more years”, per Slive himself.

The commissioner, 71, told the Associated Press he still has some unfinished business to attend to, most importantly the league’s new TV network deal. He is also continuing to work with his on the details of a four-team playoff, which as noted early, are already shaping up to be interesting if multiple broadcast networks get their hands on the inventory.

“I have agreed with the league that I will stay at least a couple of more years, and then we’ll sit down and decide what happens after that,” said Slive. “Don’t forget it takes two. It’s not just me making a unilateral decision. Both of us need to make that decision.”

Slive’s contract was set to expire at the end of this month.
