In a press release, Tulane announced that deep snapper -- long snapper to laymen such as you and I -- Billy Johnson has decided to transfer into first-year head coach Curtis Johnson‘s program. Johnson (the player) comes to the Green Wave from Georgia, where he had been since 2008.
As Johnson, whose father worked on the same New Orleans Saints’ staff as his new head coach the past four years, has already received his bachelor’s degree from UGA, he will be eligible to play immediately while working on his master’s degree in homeland security at Tulane.
“I have known Billy for a while and he will be a great addition to our team for the 2012 season,” the coach said in a statement. “I expect him to come in right away and compete for our deep snapping duties.”
As noted in the release, Johnson’s father, Bill, is currently the defensive line coach for the Saints.
