Ex-FSU CB Greg Reid accepted to Valdosta State

Two weeks removed from getting the boot from coach Jimbo Fisher, and another couple of weeks or so from the start of the 2012 football season, former Florida State cornerback Greg Reid has found his new, one-year collegiate home.

Multiple outlets including Warchant.com and the Orlando Sentinel report that Reid, as was previously speculated, has been accepted to Divsion II program Valdosta State per the school’s sports information office. VSU could not confirm that Reid had enrolled in classes beginning today, however.

Until Reid is enrolled in classes, he cannot participate in athletics. However, because he is dropping down a level, Reid will be able to play immediately once he is enrolled. The corner/special teams contributor is originally from Valdosta.

Reid leaves FSU as one of the Seminoles’ best defensive players, but one with a track record of trouble off the field. Reid’s dismissal stemmed from a July 10 arrest for driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana and a seatbelt violation. Last September, he was also charged with a pair of misdemeanors from a “scooter incident”, although those charges were eventually dropped.
