Another Sooner slapped with a suspension

For the fifth time the past three months, a member of the Oklahoma football program has been indefinitely suspended by head coach Bob Stoops.

The latest to feel Stoops’ punitive wrath is defensive tackle Stacy McGee, who the coach announced Friday for undisclosed violation of university policies. McGee has started 17 games the past three seasons, including three last year and 11 in 2010.

As a result of the suspension, the Daily Oklahoman writes, defensive end David King will move to defensive tackle.

In addition to McGee, wide receivers Trey Franks, Kameel Jackson and Jaz Reynolds and defensive back Quentin Hayes were each hit with an indefinite suspension for various reasons early May. Franks, Reynolds and Hayes have already been reinstated to practice, although the statuses of those three players for the regular season opener and beyond are very much up in the air.

Jackson, on the other hand, was dismissed from the program earlier this month.
