Ex-Gator WR lands at TCU

Exactly one week after it was announced he was leaving Florida, Ja’Juan Story has already found a new football home.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, one of the wide receiver’s former high school coaches confirmed that Story has decided to continue his playing career at TCU. The Horned Frogs were one of two finalists for Story’s services, the other being USF; Greg Auman of the Times reported that the Florida native was scheduled to visit the Bulls Saturday, but obviously that trip will not be taken.

“I believe he started looking at them because he is a real close friend of Jamie Byrd,” Nature Coast (Fla.) assistant Rob Kazmier told BayNews9.com. “Jamie is a safety over there at TCU and they both graduated at the same time...and during the recruiting process they were trying to look at some of the same schools. This time around, Ja’Juan contacted Jamie and TCU right away, and I guess they made it happen.”

TCU also recently added former Miami Hurricanes head coach Randy Shannon to Gary Patterson‘s coaching staff. As noted by the Times, Story was recruited by Shannon when the latter was still the Canes coach.

As of yet, TCU has not confirmed the addition of Story, who will have to sit out the 2012 season, to its football roster.

Story was a four-star member of Will Muschamp’s first UF recruiting class in 2011, rated as the No. 31 player at his position coming out of high school in Brooksville, Fla. He took a redshirt his true freshman season.
