Minnesota State coach arrested on child porn charges

As though the Jerry Sandusky case wasn’t enough, there’s more disturbing news from the world of college football that unfortunately involves exploiting innocent children.

The Mankato Free Press reports that Minnesota State coach Todd Hoffner was booked into the Blue Earth County jail Tuesday afternoon on charges related to child pornography. Hoffner was originally escorted off a university practice field on Friday and placed on administrative leave, though the school has not elaborated on the situation.

An investigation into the charges have already begun, Blue Earth Co. Capt. Rich Murry told the Free Press.

We began investigating yesterday,” Murry said. “Based on information from our initial investigation we executed a search warrant at his residence Monday morning.”

Formal charges have not been filed against the coach, who is in his fifth year with the school.
