Hurricane Isaac won’t impact Rutgers-Tulane game

Thanks to the devastating impact of Hurricane Isaac on the Gulf Coast, the Texas A&M-Louisiana Tech game has been pushed back until mid-October while the Oregon State-Nicholls State game has been postponed until an undetermined point later this season.

Additionally, the UT-San Antonio-South Alabama game, originally scheduled for Thursday night, has been moved to Saturday.

Fortunately for fans of one game being played in the state of Louisiana, however, their game will go off as planned.

In a press release, Tulane confirmed that its game against Rutgers Saturday night will be played as scheduled. The game will be played in the Superdome in New Orleans, with officials of that stadium stating that the facility “sustained no major interior or exterior damage from Hurricane Isaac and is expected to be ready for Tulane’s season opening game Saturday.”

In constant communication with city officials and others, the school felt confident in its decision to open the season this weekend.

“After continuous dialogue with officials from our university, our city, SMG, C-USA , the CBS Sports Network and Rutgers, we have concluded it is not only appropriate to move ahead with this event but essential to show the nation the resolve and resiliency of our community when faced with enormous adversity,” Tulane athletic director Rick Dickson said. “I hope all New Orleanians will join CJ and this team in demonstrating this spirit!”

The other game of note in the state is North Texas-LSU in Baton Rouge. As of late Friday morning, LSU officials were still assessing the situation and have reached no decision on whether the game will be played as scheduled Saturday.
