In January of this year, Jay Prosch transferred to Auburn from Illinois in order to be closer to his cancer-stricken mother.
Sadly, Iris Prosch has lost her battle with the insidious disease.
According to the Birmingham News, the fullback’s mother passed away early this morning in Mobile, Ala. Iris Prosch had been diagnosed with brain cancer just prior to the start of the 2011 football season.
Jay Prosch was granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA due to his mother’s health issue, and played in the Tigers’ season-opening loss to Clemson.
