TCU’s leading rusher a game-time decision

As TCU gets set to embark on the second phase of its three-legged non-conference schedule, the status of the Horned Frogs’ top running back is very much up in the air.

Waymon James suffered a knee injury late in the fourth quarter of TCU’s win over Kansas in the school’s first-ever Big 12 game and did not return.

As for his availability in this Saturday’s home game against Virginia? Head coach Gary Patterson told the media it’ll be a game-time decision. And that (Writer’s note: if they know what’s good for them) the backups had best be ready to go if the junior is a no-go.

“In my profession you can’t worry about the guy that goes down, it’s just got to be the next guy that steps up,” Patterson said.

Through two games -- TCU didn’t play Week 1 -- James leads the Horned Frogs with 168 yards and has scored one of the team’s two rushing touchdowns.
