Four-star WR, son of Angels outfielder, commits to Notre Dame

We don’t cover recruiting a lot here on CFT unless the athlete is either 1) a four or five-star recruit or 2) the son of an athlete/celebrity. In the case of Prosper (TX) wide receiver Torii Hunter Jr., it’s both.

Hunter, the son of Los Angeles Angels outfielder Torii Hunter, committed to Notre Dame following the Irish’s 13-6 “win” over Michigan Saturday night. Both Hunter and his father took to their respective Twitter accounts to announce the news.

Congrats to my son @thunterjr for his commitment to Notre Dame to play football and baseball. #proudpapa

Hunter Jr. is a four-star receiver and the 35th best at said position, according to Rivals.com. He also had scholarship offers from Arkansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, among plenty others. With his verbal, non-binding commitment, Hunter becomes the 21st member of Notre Dame’s 2013 recruiting class.
