UCLA loses deep-threat WR for Utes

As UCLA looks to rebound from two losses in the past three games, the Bruins will be without one of its players with the ability to stretch opposing defenses.

Head coach Jim Mora confirmed Tuesday that wide receiver Darius Bell will not play in this Saturday’s Pac-12 game against Utah. Bell suffered a hard hit in the loss to Cal last weekend and suffered a shoulder injury on the play.

The hit has apparently impacted more than Bell’s shoulder, though.

“He got hit pretty good,” Mora said. “His shoulder is sore. His ribs and neck are sore. That side of his body where he came down hard is sore. We’ll give him a couple of days to see how he is. He’s feeling a little better, but he’s not feeling great.”

Bell’s 20.4 yards per catch -- on seven receptions -- leads the Bruins in 2012.
