Arkansas DEs dealing with injury, legal issues

Bad news comes in bunches for Arkansas this year, it seems.

Two days after it was learned that linebacker and leading tackler Alonzo Highsmith would miss the rest of the year with a foot injury, John L. Smith announced on Wednesday that starting defensive end/linebacker Tenarius Wright will also be lost for the season to repair a shoulder injury.

Wright (pictured) missed last Saturday’s win over Auburn with the injury, which he’s been dealing with since preseason practice. He had an MRI Monday.

Additionally, defensive end Chris Smith was arrested Wednesday morning on a warrant for failure to appear in court. Smith missed a July 18 court date for a speeding ticket he received in May. He was ticketed by police for driving 64 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone, according to police records.

Smith was released after posting $415 bond.

Wright was the team’s fifth-leading tackler with 28; Smith had 23 tackles of his own.
