Auburn’s second-leading receiver out vs. Vandy

In his second straight start at quarterback for Auburn, Clint Moseley won’t have one of the Tigers’ most reliable targets in the passing game on which to rely.

An AU spokesperson confirmed to al.com that starting tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen will not play in today’s game against Vanderbilt due to what’s believed to be a hip injury. Lutzenkirchen made the trip to Nashville and will be on the sidelines to support his teammates.

Rivals.com, however, is reporting that the injury could be of the season-ending variety.

That report could in part explain a tweet posted to the player’s Twitter account this morning.

Lutzenkirchen is second on the team in receptions (15) and receiving yards (139).

He’s also the fourth Auburn started sidelined for the game with the Commodores due to injury, joining center Reese Dismukes, defensive end Dee Ford and cornerback Chris Davis.
