Regardless, Arizona could be without its starting quarterback as it looks to bounce back from a 56-point beating at the hands of UCLA last weekend.
At a press conference Monday afternoon, both head coach Rich Rodriguez and athletic director Greg Byrne addressed the head injury Matt Scott suffered in the loss, although they stopped short of confirming that the quarterback suffered a concussion in the third quarter. However, multiple media outlets have reported that it is indeed a concussion.
Because of the injury, Scott is listed as questionable for the Buffs game.
“Matt will be observed and evaluated daily,” Byrne said according to the Arizona Daily Star. “The final decision on whether he’ll play will be made by our medical staff.”
Scott had been medically cleared by the medical staff prior to the UCLA game after taking several shots to the head the previous weekend.
The next update on Scott’s health and his status for Saturday’s game will come Thursday.
Scott is currently seventh nationally in passing yards per game (316.4) and fifth in the Pac-12 in passing efficiency. If Scott is unable to go, junior college transfer B.J. Denker would get the start.
