BYU, Virginia schedule home-and-home

BYU continues to fill up its 2013 schedule. On Wednesday, the university announced alongside the University of Virginia that the two sides have agreed to a home-and-home series in 2013 and ’14. The teams are scheduled to meet Aug. 31, 2013, in Charlottesville and Sept. 20, 2014, in Provo.

“We feel fortunate that we were able to schedule a series with BYU, a school with a strong football tradition, on such short notice,” Virginia athletic director Jon Oliver said. “Historically the games have been very competitive and we look forward to opening the season against them in 2013 in Scott Stadium.”

“I really like this series with Virginia,” said BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe. “It’s been more than a decade since we played at Virginia. It should be a great game for BYU fans in that part of the country and will provide a unique travel experience for both teams.”

BYU announced last week that it would be playing a home-and-home with Cincinnati in 2015 and ’16, and at Michigan in ’15. With the addition of UVA, BYU has six open spots on its 2013 schedule. Virginia, meanwhile, has filled its final ’13 nonconference game.
